Da Mata 42, passed away suddenly on Friday, April  21. He loved S.L. Benfica, a Portuguese soccer team, the New York Yankees, the New York Rangers and the New York Giants, according to his obituary. He started working for Seabra's Market on Lafayette Street when he was 16, his obituary reads. Newark Police Capture Man Wanted In Killing Last Month A 19-year-old from Newark has been arrested and charged in the murder of another 19--year-old city resident, police said Wednesday.  Zahir D. Moore has been charged with murder, contempt of court and a weapons offense in connection with the killing of Waleik McCollum. McCollum was killed Sept. 29 in the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue.  Moore was arrested Tuesday after he was spotted by 6th Precinct officers near Columbia and Lafayette streets.

Gibson Boulevard (the former Broad Street) in Newark will be closed Sunday night for the city's Ramadan Commemoration, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.  The street will be closed from Court Street to Lafayette Street from 6 to 10 p.m., Ambrose said. Drivers should plan an alternate route and allow extra time for traveling near the area.
