Union City Police Officer Busted For DWI: Secaucus PD (Updated) A police officer from Hudson County has purportedly been charged with DWI, according to authorities and various news reports. Mauricio Garces, a 34-year-old Secaucus resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Sunday, July 2, Secaucus Police said. Garces has been a police officer in Union City since 2019. At 3:03 a.m., police observed a car stopped in a lane of traffic in the area of Secaucus Road and County Avenue, officers said. The driver of the vehicle was found to be sleeping, police said. Authorities Probe Video Of Bergen Animal Shelter Worker Abandoning Kitten Authorities are investigating the actions of an animal shelter caretaker caught on home security video abandoning a kitten on a Bergen County street. Ring video (see below) shows the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center volunteer pulling up in an SUV and leaving the kitten on a snow-shoveled sidewalk on Diamond Way in Moonachie shortly before 2:30 p.m. this past Sunday. There apparently is a colony of strays up the street, which may explain why the woman dropped the cat in that neighborhood. Authorities: Newark Officer In 'Troubling' Video Relieved Of Gun, Reassigned One Newark police officer has been reassigned to desk work only and relieved of his gun after video of him and his colleagues using force to subdue a man surfaced on social media, authorities said. The incident began when police responded to a citizen's complaint of a disturbance May 12, Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose said.
