Newark Woman Walking On Highway Killed By Car In Hillside, Police Say A woman walking on Route 22 died after after being hit by a car Thursday night in Hillside, authorities confirmed Friday. Al Mujadilah Baxter, 50, of Newark, was struck around 5:45 on the eastbound side of the highway and pronounced dead en route to the hospital, Hillside Police Detective Natalie Ogonowski said. It was not immediately clear why Baxter was walking on the highway. The incident occurred at Bloy Street, and closed all lanes for several hours due to the investigation.
