Diana Nicole Marrero Santiago, of South Amboy, died in the Sayreville accident on Friday, Dec. 22, according to her obituary and a GoFundMe campaign.

Rafael Padilla, a longtime Newark firefighter, died on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
A lifelong Newark resident, Padilla served as a sergeant in the US Army National Guard for 25 years and joined the Newark Fire Department in April 2007, being stationed at Truck 8 and Engine 27, according to his obituary.

The drowning of a New Jersey toddler has prompted a wave of support for his parents.
Witten Steigerwald, 18 months, was found in a pool in Spotswood and wasn't breathing around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, officials in Middlesex County said.
Responders performed CPR, and Witten was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
