A 57-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on Friday, April 12 on the two-year anniversary of when he ran over a woman with his SUV following a minor crash, authorities said.
At 8:30 a.m. on April 12, 2022, Vincent Jean and Morgan Scott, a 23-year-old woman, had gotten into a collision on Salem Avenue and Aberdeen Road in Elizabeth, when Scott got out of her car and was taking pictures of the vehicles from the sidewalk, Union County Prosecutor William A. A 32-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 11 years in state prison on Thursday, Feb. 8, for fatally striking a woman in the city and fleeing the scene in Aug. 2020, authorities said.
At 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2020, Elizabeth police responded to the Oakwood Apartment Complex on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said. A drug raid spanning several New Jersey towns turned up a stash of drugs — including heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine — with a street value of more than $15 million, and netted multiple arrests, police said.
Acting on court-ordered search warrants, the raids were conducted Thursday, Nov. 16 following a months-long investigation in Hoboken, Jersey City, Elizabeth, and Montclair, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Three Shot, One Dead In Elizabeth: Prosecutors
Three people were shot, one fatally, in Elizabeth on Monday, June 26, authorities said.
At 8:30 p.m., Elizabeth police officers responded to the 600 block of Salem Avenue after receiving reports of multiple shot, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said.
Upon arrival, police found three gunshot victims inside a vehicle, Gurley Edouard a 28-year-old Roselle resident, a 23-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl, prosecutors said. Edouard was taken to Trinitas Hospital where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

An Elizabeth man has been arrested on accusations he bludgeoned a woman to death over the weekend, authorities announced.
Victor H. Rodriguez Gomez, 33, struck 30-year-old Carmen Lopez Barahona in the head, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl J. Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said.
Barahona was found around 2 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 on the the 200 block of Lt. Glenn Zamorski Drive, and Gomez had fled the scene, police said.

US Marshals Nab Newark Man For 2021 Elizabeth Murder: Prosecutor
Members of the US Marshals Service arrested a 25-year-old Newark man early Tuesday, Feb. 1, wanted in an August 2021 shooting death of an Elizabeth man over the summer, authorities announced.
Jefferson Louis, 25, has been accused of gunning down Archeley Brizard, 26, in a vehicle near Jefferson Park on Aug. 4 around 12:30 p.m., Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said.
Brizard was found by police having suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Julie Peterman, who is prosecuting the case.
