Shortly after midnight Aug. 3, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of North Ninth Street in Newark. Vernon A. Robinson, a 34-year-old East Orange man, was found unresponsive in a rear yard. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
