A 27-year-old Newark man was arrested in a shooting that sent two victims to the hospital, authorities said.
Police officers responding to reports of shots fired responded to Hillside Avenue near Avon Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday, April 6, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
Two victims were treated for gunshot wounds at University Hospital, and later reported in stable condition.
Surveillance footage from several locations identified Zireek Wyckoff as the driver of the vehicle which the gunfire originated, Ambrose said.
Wyckoff was arrested Monday, June 29, on aggravated assault and weapons-related charges.

“I commend the members of our Major Crimes Unit for their relentless follow-up to ensure that a suspect was identified,” Ambrose said. “Our community is safer due to the hard work and commitment of these detectives. They left no stone unturned in gathering video evidence of this senseless violence, which resulted in two shooting victims.”
