Hawthorne Police Officer, Motorist Hospitalized After Crash A Hawthorne police officer and a motorist were hospitalized with injuries that responders said didn't appear life-threatening after a crash Saturday afternoon. The collision at the intersection of Diamond Bridge Avenue and Goffle Road sent a sedan down an embankment into Goffle Brook County Park. Hawthorne police, firefighters and EMS responded. A utility pole also was damaged. Both wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene by flatbed tow trucks. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.

Video/Photos: Firefighters Rescue Driver After Car Falls Into Brook Off Route 208 Hawthorne firefighters rescued a driver whose car barreled down an embankment and over a wall into Goffle Brook near Route 208 Tuesday night. The woman was alert and thanking Hawthorne firefighters through tears of joy as they turned a ladder into a makeshift basket and carried her over the wall before she was placed on a gurney and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. as she tried to turn onto northbound Route 208 from Goffle Road. Responders from several towns rushed to the scene. Boyd A.
