"We spoke with him today," Capt. Michael deMoncada said Friday. "There was no appropriate intent at all."
School officials were expected to issue a release.
The man, of Indian descent, parked his black Dodge Charger with Pennsylvania license plates in front of the playground at MacKay School after dismissal, deMoncada said.
A parent at the playground who saw him asked him to leave, and he headed into the school -- where a custodian chased him off.
deMoncada said police and school officials were using the incident as a "teaching moment" to remind their children not to talk to strangers or to approach anyone in a vehicle.
