Tenafly bank robber unique

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN? Of all the New Jersey and New York City bank holdups listed by the FBI the past three years, no one still at large compares with the 5-foot-10-inch-tall bandit who quietly put a note written in black magic markerup to a teller’s window at the NVE branch in Tenafly on Monday morning and walked out with a bag of cash.

Federal authorities, as always, didn’t discose the amount taken — to do otherwise, they say, could give someone an idea if there’s a big haul. Most takes are from $3,000 to $7,000, the bureau says.

Monday’s robber is a white 30-something with a medium build. His black baseball cap had writing on it similar to the “Callaway” hat worn exactly two years ago by a much younger-looking — and shorter — robber of a Maple Shade bank. His shades were similar, as well.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about the holdup call the FBI’s Newark Field Office at (973) 792-3000 or Tenafly police at (201) 568-5100.
