Deputy Police Chief Lawrence Suffern is briefing Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli this morning on the incident. Information will then be released to the public, a spokeswoman for the city police department told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
A short time after the gunman was arrested, a uniformed officer stood guard in the street, his cruiser lights flashing, as a dog barked inside the house at 409 Tryon Avenue, at the corner of Belmont Street, at 1:30 a.m. All of the windows were open. A light was on in an upstairs room, a makeshift curtain covering the window.
The officer was later relieved by a morning crew.
Police began cordoning off streets and urging people to stay inside
around 9 p.m. inside the area between Tryon and Morrow parks.
As of 10:30 a.m, they hadn’t officially disclosed the particulars of what’s being called “a police situation.”
