Lt. Joseph Macaluso stopped the 2000 black Hyundai for not having an inspection sticker yesterday afternoon.

The license plates, it turned out, belonged to another car, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this morning.

The driver — 31-year-old Waylon R. Clarke of Tobyanna — didn’t have insurance, either, he added.

After the car was impounded, officers taking inventory smelled raw marijuana and discovered nearly 70 grams of pot, as well as 30 empty plastic bags and a grinder, Pentangelo said.

A search of Clarke turned up the knife, he said.

Police charged him with drug and weapons possession, while issuing him several traffic summonses.
