High School Swimmer ID'd As 16-Year-Old Killed In South Jersey Crash The 16-year-old girl killed in a weekend South Jersey crash has been identified as a high school athlete. Sophia Bennett was killed in the two-car crash on Friday, March 22, at the intersection of Hurffville Road and Deptford Center Road just after 8 p.m., according to police and school officials. The vehicle that Sophia was riding in was being driven by a 17-year-old Gibbstown boy, who was seriously injured, police said at the time of the crash. The other driver, a 27-year-old woman from Deptford, was taken to Jefferson Hospital (Washington Township), police said.
