Mercer County Sheriff's Detective Jessica Cardona Dies, 46 Jessica Cardona, a mother and internal affairs detective with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, died on Dec. 9, 2023.  She was 46 years old. The Burlington mother leaves behind her husband Kenneth Cardona; sons Dazani DeLeon, Jerel DeLeon and wife Angela, and Devian DeLeon. She was born to Santos and Carmen Hernandez in Puerto Rico, her obituary says. Wrongful Death Lawsuit Blames Vineland Police For Man's Fatal Restraint A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the Vineland Police Department in the 2015 death of Philip White.  The trial begins on Thursday, Oct. 6 in U.S. District Court in Camden. Witnesses apparently differ on many facts including what precipitated Vineland Officer Louis Platania to direct force against White in the March 31, 2015 encounter, according to the lawsuit filed by attorneys Stanley O.
