Woman Arrested After Shooting Threat Locks Down Popular Bergen County Restaurant
UPDATE: A woman who police said forced the temporary lockdown of a busy Bergen County restaurant during dinner this weekend was identified as a Westchester County resident. Diana Dealem-Calderon, 39, left Fire & Oak in Montvale after threatening to shoot someone during an argument, Police Chief Doug McDowell said. Montvale police took her into custody a little over a mile away at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton, with help from their law enforcement colleagues there, the chief said. "What was that?" was the question that rumbled through a large swath of North Jersey and into New York State early Wednesday afternoon. Mine blasting? A sonic boom? Seneca guns? Unconfirmed reports of an earthquake or "seismic-like event" stretched from Newton and Sparta in Sussex County to as far east as the Palisades in Alpine beginning at 12:52 p.m. Jan. 11. Hundreds of guests had a weekend-long Chanukah celebration cut short when a pipe burst at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton. The event was part of an annual weekend-long gathering of 800 or so attendees who simply headed home early after sirens sounded near the end of Shabbos shortly after 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24. No one was injured when a runaway SUV smacked into a Woodcliff Lake home on Wednesday. A building inspector was summoned, however, to inspect the damage to the garage of the home struck at the end of a cul-de-sac on Mullholland Drive around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 21. Five Pounds Of Pot In A Suitcase Spells Trouble For Bergen, Rockland Buds
Five pounds of pot for sale landed two men – one from Bergen, the other from Rockland – in trouble with the law. Four people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation from an overnight house fire in Old Tappan, responders said. Bergen Homeowner Finds Burglar Downstairs
A startled Woodcliff Lake homeowner was unharmed after finding a burglar downstairs, authorities said. Borough police rushed to the residence off Werimus Road -- near the entrance to the southbound Garden State Parkway -- after the homeowner called them shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday, Lt.
