The Jennings Creek Wildfire has burned more than 2,200 acres across Passaic County, NJ, and Orange County, NY, and shifting winds are blowing smoke into surrounding areas.

A Canadian truck driver was arrested earlier this week after police discovered methamphetamine hidden in his tractor-trailer, officials said.
Officer Nicole DiPasquale was on routine patrol around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11,, when she noticed a tractor-trailer struggling to maintain its lane on Route 17 North, Mahwah Police Capt. Guido Bussinelli said. Officer DiPasquale conducted a motor vehicle stop and spoke with the driver, who was later identified as Dominic Perras, 47, of Canada.

Police ID Elizabeth Worker Crushed To Death At Clifton Recycling Plant (Update)
A worker was killed Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, when a baling machine fell on him at a Clifton recycling plant, officials confirmed.
Jose D. Centeno, of Elizabeth, went underneath the heavy machine at Ricova Recycling at 1 Broad St. around 3:30 p.m. and became crushed, according to a spokesperson from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Clifton police.
Clifton police Lt. Robert Anderson said officers, firefighters, rescue officials, and EMS personnel responded and confirmed Centeneo was dead.

Erik J. Midgley, a dedicated Bergen County Public Safety dispatcher and lifelong community volunteer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 10, according to his obituary on the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home website. He was 47 years old.
Known for his reassuring presence during emergencies, Erik spent many years as the calming voice on the other end of the line for those in crisis, his obituary says. His legacy includes years of volunteer work with the Palisades Park and Fairview Ambulance Corps.
