Pedestrian Struck Crossing Route 46 In Saddle Brook
A Saddle Brook man was struck crossing Route 46 Monday afternoon, authorities said. The middle-aged victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening after he was struck around 4 p.m. Police Chief Robert Kugler said. He was in the crosswalk when he was struck on the westbound side of the highway outside the Saddle Brook Center, Kugler said. Tire-Toting Tractor Trailer Splits, Tying Up Traffic Off GWB
A tractor-trailer buckled and bent at the westbound Route 4 ramp to Route 95 in Fort Lee during Monday’s morning rush. The mishap occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m., jamming traffic. The delays continued more than an hour while the cargo – used tires – was offloaded to another truck before the trailer could be towed. Fortunately, they'd been stacked in a way that kept them from rolling down the highway. ABC Towing handled the job. No injuries were reported.

Paterson Offender In Wild Stolen Car Chase Charged With Fair Lawn Break-Ins
A repeat offender from Paterson who was captured in Paramus after a wild stolen car chase that went through several Bergen County towns was charged with a pair of Fair Lawn burglaries. John Chavan Johnson, 32, has been held in the Bergen County Jail since the Sept. 15 chase. In that time, detectives have tied Johnson to car thefts and vehicle and home burglaries in Ridgewood, New Milford -- and, now, Fair Lawn. Rooftop HVAC Short Clears Hackensack Staples
A rooftop air conditioning unit malfunctioned at a Staples store in Hackensack mid-Tuesday afternoon. The store was emptied while city firefighters tended to a burnt transformer in the HVAC unit at the Hackensack Avenue store just off Route 4. Paterson Man Captured After Wild Stolen Car Chase Charged In Ridgewood Crime Spree
A Paterson man captured in Paramus after a wild stolen car chase that went through several Bergen County towns was responsible for a series of vehicle thefts and burglaries, as well as home break-ins in Ridgewood, authorities said. John Chavan Johnson, 32, remained held Wednesday in the Bergen County Jail following his arrest two days earlier. Police captured three suspects who bailed from their brand-new sedan after it crashed in Fair Lawn during a Friday evening chase that began with a theft at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities confirmed. The pursuit apparently began after a theft from the Apple store at the Garden State Plaza. Pileup Closes Eastbound Route 4 In River Edge
A multi-vehicle crash closed eastbound Route 4 in River Edge early Monday evening. Traffic quickly backed up through Paramus after the four-car crash shortly before 5:30 p.m. involving an older-model station wagon, a van, a sedan and a coupe. There was no immediate word on injuries. All traffic was diverted to the northbound Hackensack Avenue exit.

A brief police pursuit ended Friday afternoon with a crash, a search and the arrests of two men in River Edge who authorities said used anti-theft devices to shoplift from Bloomingdale's at Hackensack's Shops at Riverside off Route 4. A dog owner who on Sunday was undergoing surgery to fix her jaw injured in crash is desperate to find her dog who bolted from the scene early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 in Teaneck. Akela, a hound mix, has been spotted in busy areas close to Route 4 in Hackensack, Teaneck and Bogota since the 2 a.m. collision Saturday. The dog is frightened easily and should not be chased.
