Surfing Teacher Rescues Jersey Shore Swimmer While Filming Promo Video For Boogie Board
A teacher saved a Jersey Shore swimmer in distress while surfing over the weekend, and he just so happened to capture it on video. US Marine Steve Houser, of Toms River, went to LBI Sunday, Sept. 3, to film a promo video for one of Tandm Surf's boards Oh, what a video they got. A 17-year-old girl who died in a Piscataway crash this week has been identified by relatives as a local athlete. A GoFundMe campaign for Cassandra "Cassie" Feliciano's family says just that she was in a "tragic accident" on Monday, Jan. 2. The vehicle that the victim — who has yet to be identified by authorities — was riding in overturned and struck a pole on South Randolphville Road near Centennial Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. A former special education teacher and college wrestling coach who worked for dozens of New Jersey schools and youth programs has been indicted for endangering the welfare of a minor, filming/possession of child exploitive material, and criminal sexual contact, authorities said. Paramus Police Department Mourns Loss Of Officer Allan Alvarez, 42
The Paramus Police Department is mourning the loss of officer Allan Alvarez. Alvarez, 42, died unexpectedly on Sunday due to complications of a medical procedure at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, his obituary says. A Plainfield native, Alvarez grew up in Piscataway and was a Rahway resident at the time of his passing. He graduated Piscataway High School in 1996 and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Bosnia and a tour during Operation Desert Fox. Shannon Reilly Gutches of Bound Brook, previously of Elizabeth, died unexpectedly on Sunday. She was 33 years old. Described as a loving and compassionate woman, she earned a Doctor of Psychology degree from Hofstra University and worked as a child psychologist at Piscataway High School and most recently for the Hillsborough Board of Education.
