A 65-year-old DUI driver has been arrested after police say she plowed her vehicle into two occupied vehicles, a telephone pole, and a building in New Milford Friday evening, July 25. The crash happened around 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Madison Avenue and River Road, New Milford Police Capt. Kevin Van Saders said. One of the occupants of the struck vehicles was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Van Saders. : Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire
Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Borough firefighters were immediately joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge, with New Milford Fire Chief Gerry Smithson operating as the scene commander, the chief said. A driver escaped injury when her SUV slammed into a house in a quiet New Milford neighborhood on Thursday, police said. The 65-year-old motorist apparently lost control of the 2020 Acura RDX while backing up on Webster Drive just off Batterson Court around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 11, Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Volunteer New Milford firefighter and NMHS graduate Christian Pavone was named the first recipient of a scholarship honoring New Milford terror attack victim Darren Drake Drake, a 2013 New Milford High School graduate and former BOE president, was killed in a New York City terror attack last year. Pavone was awarded a $2,000 from The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's (NNJCF) Darren Drake Memorial Fund.
