Federal immigration authorities now have the ability to arrest individuals in and around schools and churches — areas previously considered sensitive. A 62-year-old woman was stabbed and beaten by a 36-year-old Hackensack woman she knew from church at her home in Englewood on Friday, Aug. 2, police said. Kaleema Dicks confronted the victim outside of her home around 3:35 p.m., pushed her way inside and began punching her in the face, Englewood Police Detective Lt. Fred Pulice said. Four Firefighters Injured After Blaze Damages Historic Church
Grace Presbyterian Church, a 99-year-old Montclair institution, suffered extensive damage after a three-alarm fire tore the building on Tuesday morning, August 15. Montclair firefighters rushed to Grove Street and Tuxedo Road at 8 a.m. and found the fire reaching from the basement to the roofline at the back of the church, Deputy Chief Robert Duncan said.
