A 27-year-old Fair Lawn man was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing his car into a telephone pole over the weekend, authorities said.
Police Officer Vincent Messina responded to the scene at the corner of Fair Lawn and Parmelee avenues around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, after receiving reports of a single-car crash, police said.
The driver, identified as Luis A. Gamarroarrego, failed a roadside sobriety test and was taken into custody, authorities said.

Dad, Daughters 7, 10, Hit By Car Walking To School In Old Tappan
UPDATE: A dad and his two young daughters were struck by a car in Old Tappan while walking to school, authorities said.
Officer Nicholas Antonucci, who was in the area, responded to the call at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, Police Chief Joseph Tracy said.
The officer found the 44-year-old father and his two girls -- ages 7 and 10 -- injured, the chief said.
They apparently had been on Charles Street crossing Kay Street in the crosswalk on their way to the T. Baldwin Demarest School when a driver making a left in his 2016 Hyundai hit them, he said.

Update: Ridgewood Driver In Glen Rock Crash Was Drunk, Police Charge
A Ridgewood driver was drunk when his SUV hit two parked vehicles and landed on its side in Glen Rock, authorities said.
Jason R. Romine, 40, was rescued through the moon roof of his 2002 Ford Expedition by Glen Rock Police Officer T. J. Graziani following the crash at the T intersection of Rock and Midwood roads shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The pickup, a nearly 20-year-old Honda CR-V and a newer-model Honda Accord were all towed from the scene with extensive damage, witnesses said.
