George Whalen, 85, Of Nanuet
NANUET, N.Y. – George Whalen, formerly of Nanuet, died Sunday, July 24. He was 85.
Born Jan.6,1931, in Yonkers, he was the son of Lester and May Whalen.
He served in the U.S. Army for six years and fought in the Korean War and attained the rank of master sergeant.
He served as president and coach of Nanuet Little League for over 15 years. As a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, he served on the parish council, was a lecturer and a YCS leader. He also drove the parish bus, providing transportation for seniors to attend Mass, and for volunteer youth group programs.

PAWLING, N.Y. – Francesca Vinciguerra, a former resident of Pawling and the Bronx, died Sunday, July 24. She was 94.
Born Dec.12, 1921, in Sicily, she was the daughter of Calogero and Vincenza (Aromantico) Montalbano.
She worked as a dress maker at Martino Dress Shop in the Bronx. She enjoyed traveling and was a history buff.
She is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife, Michelle of Pawling; two sisters, GiuGiu DiPizza and Anna Zarbo, both of Sicily; three grandchildren, Jesse, Benjamin, and Lauren; and three great grandchildren.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Charles Joseph Chetner, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Satuday, July 23. He was 86.
He was born April 12,1930, in Lodi. In 1944, his family relocated to a dairy farm in Cooperstown, N.Y.
He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a cook in the Panama Canal Zone and on the USS LST 1071, Panama, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He began working at The Hackley School in Tarrytown shortly thereafter.

Born on Feb.27, 1927, in County Galway in Ardrahan, Ireland, she was the daughter of Martin and Katie Jordan Malony.

FISHKILL, N.Y. – Vincent F.P. Graviano, formerly of Fishkill, died Friday, July 22. He was 76.
Born July 18,1940, in New York City, he was the son of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Graviano.

Born May 24, 1963, in Poughkeepsie, he was a son of Dolores (Sanfilippo) Wiegard and Harald Wiegard.

RYE, N.Y. – Robert C. Lynch, a resident of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Rye, died Friday, July 22. He was 93.
He was born Nov.4, 1922, in Rye to Ethel and William Lynch.
He attended Milton School and Rye High School before graduating from New York University. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 19 without any prior discussion with his parents. He served in the 3rd Infantry Division as a combat infantryman and participated in first-wave amphibious assault landings on Anzio, Italy, and St. Tropez, France, accumulating 350 days in frontline combat.

Newtown Farmers Market Serves Up Fresh Goodies Under The Sun
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The summer heat continues to beat down, but it doesn't seem to make a difference at the farmers market at the Fairfield Hills campus in Newtown on Tuesdays.
