George Whalen, 85, Of Nanuet NANUET, N.Y. – George Whalen, formerly of Nanuet, died Sunday, July 24. He was 85. Born Jan.6,1931, in Yonkers, he was the son of Lester and May Whalen. He served in the U.S. Army for six years and fought in the Korean War and attained the rank of master sergeant. He served as president and coach of Nanuet Little League for over 15 years. As a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, he served on the parish council, was a lecturer and a YCS leader. In 1944, his family relocated to a dairy farm in Cooperstown, N.Y. He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
