Cresskill Athletes Can Swap Gym For Study Hall

CRESSKILL, N.J. — Athletes at Cresskill High School will be allowed to skip physical education class to help them better balance academics and sports, NorthJersey.com reports.

Instead of the hour-long period otherwise spent in gym class, students will catch up on homework in study hall, NorthJersey.com says.

Mahwah, Lyndhurst, Paramus and several other New Jersey high schools also allow athletes to skip gym class, according to NorthJersey.com.

Students can earn physical education points through school-sponsored sports or extracurricular activities by taking advantage of NewJersey's "Option Two" program, the article says
