Crew members were honored with two Life Saving Awards from the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for the saves.
- CARDIAC ARREST: The patient was working out at a local gym when he went into sudden cardiac arrest, Stevan Selle of CVARC told Daily Voice. The Closter Police Department and the Closter VARC responded quickly and began immediate CPR. First responders quickly applied an automatic compression machine (called the LUCAS 2), and an AED.
- STROKE: The patient was a cyclist on 9W in Alpine when he began to experience symptoms of a stroke. EMS and Police were dispatched, and the patient was quickly brought to the hospital.
Award recipients include:
- CPR Save: EMT Terri DeLyon (Captain), EMT Ross Herbert (2nd Lt.), EMT Rob Beddoe, EMT Alan Wilson, EMT Scott Bilotti, EMT Sean Foley, Driver Walter Dankiewicz, and the Closter Police Department.
- Stroke Save: EMT Maayan Shalvi, EMT Tony Lupardi, EMT Jimmy Gordon, and the Alpine Police Department.
Both patients attended the awards ceremony to personally thank crew members who saved them.
