Stuck Truck Throws Monkey Wrench Into Ridgewood Rush-Hour Routine
A major Ridgewood thoroughfare was closed for more than an hour after a delivery driver's truck got stuck in the middle of a U-turn. The driver told village police his brakes locked up as he headed down Garber Square and realized the truck wouldn't clear the railroad bridge off North Broad Street around 8 a.m. Friday, April 29. The FreshPro Distributors truck out of West Caldwell ended up stuck on the median, blocking traffic in both directions. Head-On Collision In Ridgewood Sends Driver To Hospital
A driver was hospitalized after two sedans crashed head-on into one another on Friday in Ridgewood. A BMW and a Honda collided at the intersection of West Ridgewood Avenue and North Monroe Street across from the West Side Presbyterian Church shortly before 11:30 a.m. The impact sent the Honda into a retaining wall at the Woman's Club of Ridgewood. Garbage Truck Destroys Ridgewood Apartment Balcony
A garbage truck wiped out the balcony of a Ridgewood apartment Friday morning. No one was injured when the truck slammed into the terrace of the Heights Road unit off West Ridgewood Avenue around 9 a.m. A village inspector was summoned as firefighters removed the balcony's metal fencing and cleared the debris. BMW Snaps Ridgewood Utility Pole
A driver escaped serious injury when her BMW sedan took out a utility pole and damaged the base of a light post Friday morning in Ridgewood. Ridgewood EMS took her to The Valley Hospital following the crash on West Ridgewood Avenue. The street was partially closed for several hours while utility crews tended to the pole. Ridgewood police and firefighters also responded.

UPDATE: Thanks to a plea deal, a postal carrier from Midland Park who fled the scene after striking and killing a Hawthorne man in Ridgewood won’t be going to state prison for his crime. A judge in Hackensack on Friday allowed Rafael Ramos, 48, to keep his job during the day while serving 364 consecutive nights in the Bergen County Jail as his plea-bargained sentence for the hit-and-run death of Edward Rao. Ridgewood Firefighters Free Crash Victim
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the driver of an SUV that collided with another vehicle in Ridgewood Friday night. Village EMS took two victims of the crash at South Monroe Street and West Ridgewood Avenue to The Valley Hospital. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening, responders said. Two Pedestrians Struck In Ridgewood
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Two pedestrians sustained what appeared to be minor injuries when they were struck by a car Monday night in Ridgewood. The driver remained and cooperated with police while the victims were taken to The Valley Hospital following the crash at the intersection of North Monroe Street and West Ridgewood Avenue. Driver Flips Car In Ridgewood
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A driver declined to be taken to a hospital after she rolled her car in downtown Ridgewood early Thursday. Village police, firefighters and EMS responded to the rollover at Garber Square and West Ridgewood Avenue.
