Clifton Man Says Robbers Clobbered Him With Baseball Bat CLIFTON, N.J.– A 23-year-old Clifton man told city police he was hit in the head with a baseball bat and robbed of his belongings by two assailants. The man told police who found him on the ground with a head wound on West 2nd Street at 4 p.m. Monday that two or three robbers attacked him, Detective Lt. Fair Lawn Board Of Education Approves Interim Schools Chief FAIR LAWN, N.J.– Fair Lawn's Board of Education on Monday night unanimously voted 8-0 to approve Dr. Ernest Palestis as its interim schools superintendent, effective Aug. 1.  Palestis will serve until June 30, 2017 and will receive a $167,500 salary, according to the BOE.  He will replace Bruce Watson, who is retiring on July 31.  Palestis previously served in the same position for Livingston public schools and the Ramapo/Indian Hills Regional High School district.
