Garbage Truck Fire Shuts Down Plainfield Roadway: Police A garbage truck fire shut down a Northampton roadway on Monday, Oct. 28, police said. The 1000 block of Cressman Street in Plainfield Township was shut down so the Plainfield Township Fire Department could fight the blaze, according to the Slate Belt Regional Police Department.  Fire crews extinguished the blaze quickly, police said. However, police are still asking drivers to avoid the area as crews continue to clean up garbage from the roadway. No injuries were reported, according to police.

Yaniv Gola, 51, was sentenced on Tuesday, Oct. 22 after being charged for making phone calls threatening to injure, rape, and kill eight different victims, the US Department of Justice said in a news release.  After serving the prison time, Gola will be placed under three years of supervised release, the Department of Justice said.
