State police said 82-year-old Joseph M. Matrongolo, who retired from the Cliffside Park Police Department in 1988 after 25 years of service, went inside his house during the argument, got a handgun and shot Joseph J. Matrongolo, 40, several times Sunday night.
He then turned the gun on himself, they said.
Westfall Township, where the shootings occurred, is in Pike County, PA near the northwest corner of New Jersey and Port Jervis, NY.
Authorities didn’t say what the argument may have been about.
