"We're getting there," Deputy Police Chief Martin Kahn told Daily Voice after the donations hit $3,220 on Saturday.

"Everyone has a family member, a friend, or just knows someone who's battled cancer," Police Chief Thomas Juliano said.

A check of the donor list shows that Juliano's squad has succeeded in inspiring civilians to donate to the cause -- and blown away his initial goal of $1,500.

The proceeds will go toward the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Prevent Cancer Foundation, and Fight Colorectal Cancer.
