The victim was headed to work at 5 a.m. last Saturday when he was attacked near a bus stop at Desoto Place and Hamilton Avenue, Fairview Police Chief Frank DelVecchio told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Seeking safety, the man boarded a bus to Manhattan, then was taken from a Port Authority facility to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained for several days, the chief said. He has since returned home and is under the care of relatives, he said.

Detective Jose Rivas identified Rashon A. Drone of Cliffside Park, who’d turned 29 just days earlier, after interviewing and reviewing surveillance video from area businesses.

He and Detective Capt. Martin Kahn arrested Drone just after 4 a.m. today in an apartment in the 400 block of 62nd Street in West New York, DelVecchio said.

Drone was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with robbery, aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim. He’s due for a first appearance in Municipal Court next Wednesday.
