The robber hit the Bank of New Jersey on Palisade Avenue just after 4:20 p.m., then took off out the back door, running east on Jersey Avenue toward Gorge Road, Cliffside Park Police Chief Donald Keane said this morning (see photo, above).

He was described as 20 to 30 years old, thinly built — about 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds — and wearing the windbreaker in yesterday’s rain.

Borough detectives were reviewing surveillance footage. Other evidence was collected by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification, Keane said.

The FBI was assisting, the chief said.
