Three People Displaced, Firefighter Injured In Ocean City House Fire
Three people were without a home and a firefighter was injured after a house caught fire in Ocean City, officials said. Ocean City firefighters responded to the fire on the 1400 block of Simpson Avenue at around 4:46 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 15, the city said in a news release. Crews arrived within three minutes and found a large fire on the building's second floor. Marmora and Margate City firefighters also helped out the Ocean City Fire Department. Coastal Flood Warning In Effect For Jersey Shore Due To Offshore Storm, Full Moon
Many parts of New Jersey are under a coastal flood warning with an offshore storm and a full moon expected to fuel high tides, forecasters said. The National Weather Service issued the coastal flood warning in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties at 6 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 25. The NWS said the warning would be in effect until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 26. A storm out in the Atlantic Ocean will increase offshore wind speeds and make waves larger, according to the NWS. Ocean City House Fire, Man's Death Ruled Not Suspicious: Officials
An Ocean City house fire and the death of a person found at the home are not considered suspicious, officials said. A city spokesperson said there were no "suspicious or intentional" factors about the fire. It happened on the 1900 block of Asbury Avenue at around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 15. Ronald Reichenbach, 63, was found dead at the house. The cause of his death was pending a toxicology report. Investigators were still working to find out what started the fire.

A Philadelphia Flyers all-time great will lead a spring parade along the Jersey Shore. Five-time NHL all-star Brian Propp will be the grand marshal of the 2024 Doo Dah Parade in Ocean City, the city's chamber of commerce announced in a Facebook post on Monday, Mar. 18. Ocean City Fire Victim Identified, Authorities Say
A man killed in a house fire in Ocean City has been identified, authorities said. Ronald Reichenbach, 63, died in the fire at his home on the 1900 block of Asbury Avenue, according to an Ocean City spokesman. The blaze broke out at about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13. The origin of the fire and the exact cause of death remain under investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police Department, the spokesman said.

Jersey Shore communities are getting $100 million in state grants to make crucial repairs to their boardwalk, officials said. The Boardwalk Preservation Fund money will go to 18 municipalities in Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties, Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Friday, Feb. 23. A baby seal has died nearly two weeks after it was rescued while wandering around an Ocean City neighborhood. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the grey seal died on Monday, Feb. 19. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the female grey seal was found on the shore in Beach Haven at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. Parts of the Jersey Shore are on alert for minor coastal flooding this week, according to forecasters. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a coastal flood advisory for Atlantic, Cape May, and Ocean counties. Ocean City Increases Fees, Regulations For Boardwalk Performers
The Ocean City beachfront will feel and sound a little different this summer after new rules were approved to regulate boardwalk performers. City council unanimously passed an ordinance on Thursday, Jan. 25 to raise the fee for a performance permit to $200. The regulations also limit musicians and other performers to two "entertainment zones" along the boardwalk. The zones for performances will be between Fifth and Eighth streets, as well as 12th through 14th streets. Most of those who lost electricity are in Monmouth County, according to utility companies.
