These Jersey Shore Areas Had Highest Wind Gusts During This Week's Storm The wind during this week's Nor'easter may have been worse than the snow. The National Weather Service has released a list of where the highest gusts were reported Wednesday and Thursday. The highest gusts averaged between 47 and 59 miles an hour, mostly along the Jersey Shore. The highest gusts in New Jersey were reported in Ocean County. At 10:24 p.m. on Dec. 16 in Mantoloking, a 62 mph gust was reported. The second-highest gust in New Jersey was in Beach Haven at 9:33 p.m., at 60 mph.
