Motorist Killed In South Jersey Crash: Police A 75-year-old motorist was killed in a single-car crash near Joint Base McQuire-Dix-Lakehurst, authorities said. On Sunday, June 5, at approximately 7:37 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Route 547 just north of the military base entrance. Police found a 2020 Kia Soul in the roadway with extensive damage, they said. There also were several trees found lying in the roadway, police said. Fatal Jersey Shore Crash Closes Route 70 First responders were called to a report of a fatal crash that had closed Route 70 in Ocean County, authorities said. The crash occurred near Route 70's intersection with Beckerville Road in Manchester Township about 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to initial reports.  The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and county Sheriff's CSI unit had been called to the crash scene.
