NJ Car Fire Linked To Killing Of Philadelphia Police Officer A car fire on a New Jersey roadway has been linked to the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers that left one dead on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, authorities said. Police in South Brunswick said only that the vehicle fire extinguished on Route 32 around 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, was connected to the shooting.  The vehicle fire came nearly two hours after Philadelphia Police Officers Richard Mendez and Raul Ortiz were shot at Philadelphia Airport. Man, 23, Sentenced For Setting Fatal Fire In South Jersey A 23-year-old Burlington Township man was sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison for starting a fire that killed a man, authorities said. Newlin Evans IV, who was sentenced on Monday, June 5,  pleaded guilty in January to aggravated manslaughter for setting the fatal fire, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw. PA Man Killed By Car In South Jersey Loved By Many A 45-year-old man from Pennsylvania was struck and killed by a car while walking Thursday night in South Jersey, local police said. Michael D. Geisler, of Pittsburgh, was trying to cross Greentree Road near Heritage Valley Drive when a 2015 Volkswagen heading westbound on Greentree struck him around 11:45 p.m., Washington Township police said.
