Two thrown from car in post-party highway crash

Police are awaiting the results of a blood alcohol test while trying to corroborate a young driver’s account of an early-morning crash that sent all four of her passengers to the hospital — including two men thrown onto Route 4 — following a late-night party across the Hudson.

Driver Amelia Sankar, 19, of New Milford told police that a black sedan smashed into her Nissan Sentra, flinging it into the guardrail and the divider, around 6 a.m. Saturday. The sedan kept going, she said.

One of the ejected victims, Johnathan Wheatley, underwent surgery yesterday for serious internal injuries he suffered after landing between the highway divider and a guardrail.

A law enforcement official said Sankar, who wasn’t injured, told investigators she had a small amount of beer that night. The group had been partying in Queens.

Three of the four victims taken to the hospital were released.

The two thrown from the car were identified as Marcus Wright (bottom page), the rear center passenger; and Wheatley (below, right), who sat behind front-seat passenger Nicole Crespo (below left).

The fifth occupant, Chris Clarke (photo), sat behind the driver;

Sankar, shown in a photo taken behind the wheel of  her car, messaged friends on Facebook on Friday saying that she and her “lovahz” were headed to Queens to party.

Their ages range from late teens to early 20s.
