BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Bergenfield police said they seized an assault weapon, a large-capacity ammo magazine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia while arresting a 19-year-old former local high school football player.

Ariel Nazario was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after being taken into custody on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 200-pound Nazario, who was graduated from Bergenfield High School in 2014, was charged with possession of the weapon, the ammunition, the pot and paraphernalia, and with child endangerment, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said Thursday morning.
