NEW MILFORD, N.J. – A drunken party crasher tangled with New Milford police, leaving one officer with a bite mark on his arm, as she was being arrested, authorities said.

Officers called to a Boulevard apartment just before 4 a.m. Saturday found Melissa Oliveira, 18, of Allendale, unwilling to leave, Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders said.

“As the officers attempted to take Oliveira into custody, she began to kick the officers,” Van Saders said.

They eventually restrained her, but when they tried putting Oliveira in the police car, “she became verbally and physically combative and bit Lt. Brian Clancy on the arm, causing a laceration,” the lieutenant said.

Oliveira was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Van Saders said.

She was taken to New Bridge Landing Medical Center in Paramus because of her condition and given a date in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, he said.
