Bergenfield Police Seek Help Finding Mugger Of Elderly Woman

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Bergenfield police were seeking the public's help finding a mugger who police said pushed an elderly woman to the ground and then ran off with her purse.

The victim was assaulted just after 4 p.m. Monday as she walked home on Sylvan Avenue, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said. The robber then ran north on Linwood Street, he said.

He was described as black or Hispanic, possibly in his early 20s, about 5-foot-5 and thinly built, and wearing a checkered white t-shirt, black sweat pants, white sneakers.

Police believe he got into an early 2010s BMW 5 erie that headed north on South Washington Avenue.
