Patrick O’Donoghue, 81, New Milford Resident

NEW MILFORD, N.J. – Patrick O’Donoghue, a resident of New Milford for 53 years, died Monday, June 20. He was 81.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, he immigrated to Canada and then to the U.S. 

He was an avid English sports car enthusiast as well as a World War II historian. 

He was employed by British Motor Corporation (BMC) in Canada and retired as a sanitation supervisor with Lea & Perrins in Fairlawn, N.J.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Teresa O’Donoghue; children, Patrick and his wife, Gail, John and his wife, Patti, and Robert O’Donoghue; grandchildren, Aidan, Emma, John, Marc and Cristen; great-grandchildren Hannah, Alec, Addison and Avery; brother-in-law, Harry Thomas and his wife, Winnie; and sister-in-law, Phyllis O’Shea.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas, Nicholas and John, and his sister, Eva.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 300 Elm St., Oradell.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
