Three Arrested With Heroin, Cocaine, Loaded Gun In Atlantic City: Police

Three people from Atlantic City were arrested after they were found with drugs and a gun, authorities said.

In a news release, Atlantic City police said 23-year-old Semaj Poteat, 26-year-old Laquanda Barley, and 23-year-old Tyjur Blocker were arrested on Thursday, Mar. 21. The arrests come after a one-month investigation into drug dealing in the city.

Police executed a search warrant on the first block of South Kentucky Avenue. As Poteat left the apartment building, he was taken into custody because he had an outstanding warrant.

Inside the apartment, police found a loaded handgun, 14 grams of cocaine, more than 15 grams of heroin, 29 bags of heroin, and more than $1,400 in cash. Detectives also recovered items used for packaging and selling drugs.

Poteat was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, money laundering, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a controlled dangerous substance offense, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of a large capacity magazine.

Poteat was also arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday, Mar. 2, 2023, after he was found with crack cocaine, heroin, and about $730 from suspected drug deals. He was charged with possession of drugs and intent to distribute drugs.

Barley and Blocker were each charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, money laundering, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a controlled dangerous substance offense, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of a large capacity magazine.
