A local South Jersey police sergeant cherry-picked child porn images for himself from a case that his department was investigating, a grand jury indictment charges. Suspended Vineland Police Officer Christopher Ortiz, 39, of Estell Manor "requested from a subordinate and obtained via email" at least 17 images from a child pornography investigation for unauthorized use, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. Crash With Downed Power Lines Closes South Jersey Route
A serious crash knocked down power lines and shut down an Atlantic County route, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 on Route 50 near 11th Avenue and Grant Street in Estell Manor, the New Jersey Department of Transporation said. Motorcyclist, 68, Killed In South Jersey Crash: Police
A 68-year-old motorcycle rider from Atlantic County was killed in a weekend crash, authorities said. Gorman Carey of Estell Manor crashed on Sunday, Feb. 27 near Harding Highway and Walkers Forge Road in Mays Landing, according to Hamilton Township police. Carey was pronounced dead at the crash scene, police said. The crash is currently under investigation by the Township of Hamilton Police Department. The Atlantic County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted on scene.

South Jersey Man Struck By 2 Cars Dies
A 45-year-old pedestrian was killed when he tried to cross a busy five-lane highway in South Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred on Friday at 8:29 p.m, in the 700 block of Mullica Hill Road (Route 322), according to Harrison Township police. John M. Johnston of Paulsboro attempted to cross Mullica Hill Road where there are three eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes, Harrison police said. New Jersey State Police are seeking the public's help locating an Atlantic County teen reported missing two days ago. State troopers issued a "missing juvenile" alert on Friday for Chloe Weisgerber, 16, of Estell Manor. Chloe was last seen on Wednesday night at her home on Cape May Avenue, State Police said. She is described as about 5 feet and 2 inches tall, weighing about 105 pounds with reddish/auburn colored hair with black roots and hazel eyes. Multiple fire departments responded to a fast-moving blaze with heavy smoke in Atlantic County, authorities said. The fire in a three-story, wood-framed home was reported early Tuesday afternoon at 245 Cumberland Ave. in Estell Manor, according to the Fireground Buff Network.
