50 MPH Winds Knock Power To More Than 30K New Jersey Residents
Wind gusts nearing 50 miles per hour left thousands of New Jersey residents without power Monday, March 11.
According to the National Weather Service, winds are expected to die down in the evening with a wind advisory in effect until 11 p.m.
Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 50.
As of 4:15 p.m., the following areas did not have power:

Hunterdon County: 4,264 without power mostly in Bethlehem, Glen Gardner, Hampton, Hampton, High Bridge, Lebanon, Readington

Funeral Arrangements, Viewing Set For Lt. Gov. Oliver
New Jersey is preparing to honor Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, who died on Tuesday, August 1, at the age of 71.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced the official New Jersey State Funeral and Memorial Service for Oliver will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark on Saturday, August 12. The public is invited to attend.
Prior to her funeral, Oliver will lie in state in the Rotunda of the State Capital on Thursday, August 10 and the Essex County Courthouse on Friday, August 11, accompanied by a full honor guard, Murphy said.

East Orange is taking center stage at this year's Kennedy Center Honors.
Queen Latifah and Dionne Warwick, both natives of East Orange, are among the 46th Kennedy Center honorees for lifetime artistic achievement. The duo, along with Billy Crystal, Barry Gibb and Renee Fleming, will be feted at a ceremony later this year.

Housemate Admits Killing Nj-born Sculptor In Maryland
A Maryland woman has admitted to killing her 92-year-old sculptor roommate, a New Jersey native, and attempting to make it seem like a natural death, authorities said.
Julie Birch, 27, has pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of East Orange native Nancy Ann Frankel, whom she first attempted to suffocate, then strangled to death during an incident in July 2021, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said.

An ex-con captured by federal Marshals in Passaic after authorities said he robbed a South Jersey bank of $76,000 at gunpoint during Christmas week fit the profile, investigators said.
William Ray, 43, of East Orange, is, in fact, being eyed in at least one other bank holdup, as well, just weeks earlier and barely seven miles away.
It was shortly after 4:30 p.m. last Dec. 22 that a robber identified as Ray held employees at gunpoint at the Investors Bank on Route 70 in Cherry Hill. After trying and failing to lock them in the vault, he fled with the cash, authorities said.

An East Orange man has been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of the Investors Bank in Cherry Hill, authorities said.
The robbery occurred on Dec. 22, 2022, said Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, and the fugitive was arrested Thursday, Jan. 5 in Passaic.
William Ray, 42 of East Orange, is accused of entering the Investors Bank at 1951 Route 70 in Cherry Hill and holding the employees at gunpoint. Ray then allegedly attempted to lock the employees in a vault before fleeing with more than $76,000 in cash, MacAulay said.
