In a news release on Tuesday, May 14, the Atlantic City Police Department arrested 33-year-old Adam Ross of Absecon. He was charged with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property.

An officer found an empty and stolen minivan on the first block of Tennessee Avenue at around 6:57 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Shortly before police arrived, surveillance video showed two people leaving the minivan, which had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

Ross and 33-year-old Caitlin Rainey of Northfield were found nearby and arrested. They were released on summonses with future court dates.

Rainey was charged with receiving stolen property, joyriding, and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. In an update on Thursday, May 16, Rainey was wanted for giving police her sister's identity during her arrest to avoid being caught on an active warrant.

The same officer who found the minivan then saw another stolen vehicle in the first block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard at around 2:12 a.m. on Monday, May 13. The officer stopped the vehicle, which Ross was driving, and he was arrested again.

Investigators said the vehicle was stolen several minutes earlier after the owner got out of it and was in an argument. Ross got in the vehicle and sped off in it.

Anyone with information about the incidents should call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766 or text an anonymous tip that begins with "ACPD" to TIP411 (847411).

Editor's note: A previous version of this story named Rainey's sister as the second person arrested in the case because she was identified by the Atlantic City Police Department. The story has been updated to reflect the police department's correction.
