Tractor-Trailer Fire Shuts Down I-81 South Near PA/MD Border: PennDOT Interstate 81 South has fully reopened in Franklin County after a tractor-trailer fire shut down the roadway Friday evening, PennDOT announced. The fire occurred between Exit 14 (Wayne Avenue) and Exit 10 (PA-914/Marion) just after 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, initially closing all southbound lanes, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler. Fourth District units were called at around 2 p.m. on Oct. 9 to a stretch of Layhill Road near Norbeck Road, which led to delays for some travelers heading through the area in the area of Aspen Hill. Fireworks Confiscated From Fiery I-270 Crash Scene In Maryland, Officials Say The investigation into a vehicle fire on I-270 early on the Fourth of July led to the recovery of fireworks in Montgomery County, officials say. First responders were called to a stretch of the southbound lanes of the interstate at around 4 a.m. near Montrose Road in Rockville, where there was a reported crash involving two vehicles, one of which was fully engulfed in flames. According to a Montgomery County Fire and EMS spokesperson, three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of one of the vehicles fled.
