Maryland Investigators Release Report On Deadly Virginia Home Explosion That Killed Firefighter
The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) has released its comprehensive report on the February 2024 house explosion in Sterling that tragically claimed the life of Firefighter Trevor Brown and injured 13 others. The blast occurred on Feb. 16, 2024, after first responders were called to a gas leak at 347 Silver Ridge Drive. A Maryland man is facing serious charges after allegedly using social media to solicit and sexually assault a minor in Prince William County, authorities announced. Elias Samuel Vargas Canaviri, 22, of Silver Spring, was arrested on Nov. 20 following an investigation into the reported assault of a victim under 18 in the Manassas area between Oct. 20 and Oct. 21. Fatal Christmas Fall Through Icy Pond Kills 19-Year-Old Man In Virginia
A 19-year-old men fell to his death through an icy pond in Prince William County on Christmas Eve, authorities said. Fire and rescue officials found the man in a pond near the 6000 block of Erinblair Loop in the Piedmont community in Haymarket just before 10 p.m., police tell Daily Voice. A person of interest has been identified and is speaking with police following a fatal shooting in a Virginia home that left four dead. Extreme weather could be coming to parts of Maryland and Virginia as the region braces for storms and a potential tornado. Amazon Buys Land In Northern Virginia For $87.8 Million
Google and Microsoft have a new neighbor in Prince William County. Reports said Amazon recently purchased nearly 60 acres of land to in Gainesville for nearly $90 million. BizJournal announced earlier this week that Amazon Web Services had purchased the land at 5845 Wellington Road for $87.8 million. The report said AWS purchased the same-sized lot next door for $52.4 million last year.
