Classes have been canceled for the rest of the week at Bowie State University as the community continues to reel from a Homecoming Weekend shooting. As of noon on Tuesday, Oct. 10, school officials say that all classes have been canceled for the remainder of the week "to allow additional time for our students, faculty, and staff to address mental distress." Two Hurt In Homecoming Weekend Shooting At Bowie State University: Police
Local and state police are investigating a shooting at Bowie State University that left two people with gunshot wounds on Homecoming Weekend, authorities announced. At around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack were called to assist Bowie State University with security during celebratory events, when gunshots rang out near the school's Center for Business and Graduate Studies building. Grandpa Killed In Head-On Crash Into Tractor-Trailer, PA Police
A 69-year-old grandpa died at the scene of a head-on crash on Monday, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Aug. 24, 2023. Ernest Bowens of Shippensburg was driving a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder south on the 9000 block of Olde Scotland Road in Southampton Township when he crossed over the double yellow line for an unknown reason, state police explained in a release. Minor Responsible For Majority Of Bomb Threats Targeting HBCUs, FBI Says
The FBI announced that one minor is “believed to be responsible for the “majority of the threats" that have been targeting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country and throughout the region.
