65 MPH Winds, Hail Possible As Severe Storm Watch Takes Effect For Much Of Northeast
A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect across a large swath of the Northeast as potentially damaging storms move into the region.
The National Weather Service issued the watch at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. It remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday across a heavily populated corridor stretching from the Washington, DC area through Philadelphia and the New York City region.
The watch includes parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, as well as surrounding areas.

Apparently, stealing $1.35 million wasn't enough drama for Robert Terrell.
Terrell, 51, a DC and Bowie resident, pleaded guilty to wire fraud this week after prosecutors say he falsified documents to secure more than a million dollars in COVID-19 relief funds for his business.
That, somehow, may be the least bizarre part of the case.
After he was indicted, Terrell initially appeared in federal court and acknowledged that his name was "Robert Alphonso Terrell," according to prosecutors.
