Washington County resident Thamar Smith, 48, of Hagerstown, pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl following his arrest in 2019. A wanted woman is facing new charges after allegedly attempting to bring prison contraband into a Maryland jail, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announced. At least two people are dead and another is hospitalized after alleged opioid fentanyl overdoses at a DC jail, multiple sources report.
