The devoted officer and mother of four was fatally shot on Dec. 16, 2021 during a line-of-duty ambush and taken off life support a week later.
Elliott Knox, 34, who was charged alongside Trevon Shaw with her murder and the separate homicide of 38-year-old Justin Johnson that occurred just hours later, was convicted Wednesday. Deliberations took more than 14 hours.
While Knox’s co-defendant, Shaw, has not yet headed to trial, the verdict represents justice for two cases Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates said “shook Baltimore to its core.”
"Today, justice was served,” said Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley.
“I want to thank the men and women of the jury and our judicial system for finding Mr. Knox guilty of 1st degree murder. He committed a senseless and heinous act against a BPD Officer and it is my hope that this verdict brings a sense of closure and peace to Officer Keona Holley’s family, friends, co-workers and loved ones."
